Job Description

Oakman High – Agriscience Teacher (10-month position) Walker Co Board of Education Oakman, AL Certified Teacher – Agriscience Teacher (10-month position)

Agriscience Teacher:

Must be certified and HQ in the area of Agriscience or Agribusiness Education or have passed the Praxis II Exam in the area of Agriscience or hold such alternatives as may be acceptable. Must be skilled in behavior management and be able to perform all duties in an appropriate, efficient and professional manner. Must be a self starter that organizes all tasks/requirements without constant monitoring and/or supervision. Must participate in all Career Tech activities, programs, projects and meet the specified criteria for Career Tech programs. Must be orderly, organized and knowledgeable in the different areas of agriscience (plants, animals, woodworking, and metal working, etc.) Must be able to maintain the equipment and have an organized tool room. Must be willing to be an active sponsor of student organizations (FFA and Fishing team, etc.) and participate in the competitive activities of the organizations. Additional duties as assigned by the Principal. The duties include but are not limited to: Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. Exhibits positive human relations skills. Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress. Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication. Maintains and submits records and reports. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have appropriate valid Alabama Teaching Certificate or Career Tech work experience/credentials that meet requirements for certification. Reports to Career Tech Director Duty Days – 202

SALARY :

As per State Matrix, depending on degree and experience. •Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the WCBOE and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
