Position Summary:
The SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) Coach will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the SIOP Model across middle school classrooms. The coach will provide ongoing professional development, coaching, and modeling to support teachers in delivering effective instruction to English Learners (ELs). This role is instrumental in maintaining fidelity to the SIOP Model and ensuring that instruction is aligned with the CELP Standards and the needs of diverse learners.
Responsibilities Include:
Delivering professional development aligned to the SIOP Model. Leading SIOP Coaching Cycles and providing targeted support to staff. Supporting classroom implementation and providing feedback to teachers. Aligning instruction with CELP Standards and the Common Core State Standards. Utilizing data-driven practices, including Data Teams and the Data Wise framework. Collaborating across departments and grade levels to ensure systemic support for ELs. Utilizing technology to enhance instructional practices and coaching.
Qualifications:
Valid Connecticut TESOL Certification (111) required. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience with English Learners. Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a SIOP Coach at the middle school level. Proven experience leading SIOP Coaching Cycles and providing SIOP professional development. Deep knowledge of the CELP Standards, WIDA Can-Do Descriptors, and SRBI for ELs. Ability to differentiate instruction and assessment for English Learners. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and meet project timelines. Strong interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position following the teacher calendar. Salary and benefits as per the NEA Danbury Teachers contract.
