Purpose Statement:

This position is responsible for teaching Middle School History to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The teacher will instruct students in World History and American History using a Classical Christian approach, in alignment with the curriculum objectives established by Weston Christian Academy.

Scope:

This position guides students in classroom instruction and motivates them to reach their academic and spiritual potential while accomplishing the school’s mission.

Specific Responsibilities:

Teach the approved curriculum provided by the school. Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans for all classes. Teach the full assigned curriculum, integrating national standards and biblical principles. Possess strong biblical and historical knowledge necessary to effectively teach both World History and American History. Foster a learning environment that promotes critical thinking, a biblical worldview, and a deep understanding of historical events and their significance. Prepare interim reports and quarterly report cards, post grades weekly, and maintain accurate student records. Maintain and regularly update a substitute folder with current plans and procedures. Discipline students with love, in accordance with the school’s established conduct policy. Provide remediation or enrichment as needed to support student learning. Establish and maintain communication with parents, as outlined in administrative policy. Read and respond to Weston Christian Academy emails and staff communications as needed. Be available before or after school to support students with questions, concerns, or spiritual guidance. Attend and participate in at least four evening events throughout the school year. Participate in the school’s accreditation process as part of its continuous improvement plan. Engage in professional development to remain current in your field. Attend scheduled department meetings. Fulfill assigned supervisory duties. Attend chapel services scheduled for your primary grade level. Adhere to the school’s professional dress code. Secure and tidy the classroom at the end of each school day. Be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Qualifications/Skills/Gifts:

Be a committed Christian and an active member in good standing of a Christian church. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Philosophy and Statement of Faith of First Baptist Church at Weston and the Mission Statement of Weston Christian Academy. Possess a teachable and humble spirit. Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues. Demonstrate effective group facilitation skills. Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, History, Bible, Christian Ministry, or a related field. Florida State Teacher Certification and/or Florida Professional Certification is a plus. ACSI Certification is required but may be obtained within the first two years of employment. Be flexible and exhibit strong time management skills. Maintain confidentiality and be trustworthy with sensitive information. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
