Position Overview:

Seacrest is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Middle School Social Studies Teacher to develop and lead an engaging curriculum that inspires curiosity about the past and its connection to the present. This role is an exciting opportunity to shape a thoughtful and interdisciplinary program that fosters critical thinking, civic awareness, and cultural understanding. The ideal candidate will bring energy, enthusiasm, and expertise to the classroom, helping students explore history, geography, economics, and government through inquiry-based learning and real-world connections. This is a full-time position teaching a variety of social studies courses at the middle school level.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach Middle School history classes, typically grades 6-8, using a student-centered and inquiry-based approach. Design and implement engaging lessons that explore historical events, cultures, and themes with an emphasis on developing historical thinking skills. Create a positive and inclusive classroom culture that supports academic achievement and personal growth. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and support various learning styles. Incorporate a variety of teaching tools and technology to enhance instruction and assessment. Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress. Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and cross-disciplinary projects. Serve as an advisor or mentor to a group of students, supporting their social-emotional development. Participate actively in school life including faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) Minimum of 2-3 years teaching experience at the middle school level, preferably in independent school. Demonstrated passion for working with children and a deep knowledge of historical content and pedagogy. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. A growth mindset and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional learning.
