Job Description

Upper Elementary/Middle School Teacher- Performance-Based Pay Incentives Summit Christian School 9065 Ligon Court, Fort Myers, FL 33908 Job Overview We are looking for an elementary and/or middle school teacher with a passion for Jesus and teaching students at this great age to join our energetic and close-knit team. Experience working with students with special needs is an added bonus as we’ve recently added this program so that we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to all students. •If you’re a parent, after the SUFS scholarship (open to all Florida students), you will pay no tuition to have your child attend Summit. We’ve been working hard to provide an excellent education (with data to support that statement) and instill faith in our students. About Us At Summit, we are committed to hiring outstanding educators who are passionate about two things: their relationship with Jesus and providing students with an excellent academic experience that reaches all learners. We work hard to grow in our craft, and we strive to model authentic Christian faith daily. Christian education is both our ministry and our vocation, and we believe an excellent education will help produce world-changers who impact every aspect of life for Jesus. We are also educators who are striving to “do school” differently. We are lifelong learners, committed to professional growth and development, and we want to do what is best for students based on current academic research. We also want to have balanced lives, working hard during school hours, and being fully present for our families and friends during non-working hours. We want to honor our students’ families and the important role that parents must play in their child’s education. We recognize that our students are whole people with full lives that extend outside of the school day, and we strive to help our students and their families achieve balance as well. We do all these things for the glory of God and out of true love for our Savior. If this sounds like you, we would love to explore the possibility of adding you to our team! You can find the application here. Every application we receive will be given careful consideration. If you seem like a good fit for SCS, we will proceed with an interview. To get to know you better and see you in action, we may invite you to do a demonstration lesson with some of our students. Then, after prayer and careful consideration, if it seems like a good fit, we will invite you to join our Warrior team! We are excited about our mission and vision, and we are trusting God to bring us a fantastic educator to join our team and help us fulfill our mission of providing an excellent education rooted and grounded in God’s Word to students in grades K4-8. Job Requirements Reflect the mission of the school, which is to provide an excellent, high-quality education rooted in God’s word. Teachers are expected to integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities. Lead students to a realization of their value in Christ. Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the School. Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the administrator. Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises and create a good learning environment. Plan broadly through the use of semester and quarterly plans and objectives, and more currently through the lesson planning. Utilize valid best practices to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school’s philosophy. Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional. Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies. Recognize the need for good public relations and represent the School in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public. Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration. Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration. Attend school functions including, but not limited to: spring musical, awards, band and/or choir concerts, Christmas plays, dramas, and graduations. Know and respond appropriately to the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
