Stars Education Services, Inc. dba Tallahassee School of Math & Science has multiple openings available for the position of Middle School Science Teacher with the following qualifications: Requires U.S. Bachelors or foreign equivalent degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field. Requires two years of experience as a Science or Chemistry Teacher at a middle or high school level. Also requires Florida Educators Certificate in Chemistry or Biology or an official statement of eligibility as required per state law. Must pass background check. Job duties for the position include: Instruct middle school students in grades 6-8 in science covering various scientific subjects such as biology and chemistry. Design lesson plans that align with charter schools science curriculum and practices to State of Florida standards to find gaps and correct misalignments. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests using flexible grouping based on on-going assessment to confer with students and provide differentiated instruction. Choose instructional practices, compelling topics, in-depth investigations, and detailed project plans to include plans for integrating interdisciplinary instruction as well as to promote character development in students. Guide students as they explore the schools problem-centered curriculum and develop an in-dept understanding of important science concepts embedded within each activity. Expose students to problem solving, communication, and reasoning activities through laboratory experiments and real-world applications. Use a variety of teaching methodologies, including lectures, class discussions, and structured study teams as well as innovative instructional methods such as STEM project-based instruction, computer-enhance activities, and other equipment and material to encourage students to develop a positive attitude towards science and facilitate the learning of each area. Promote the students academic potential and interest in computing through guided instruction individual and teamwork, data collection, class work, and homework activities. Prepare students for and mentor them in participation in science fairs and competitions at the middle school level. Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students progress. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students behavioral and academic problems or to discuss students progress, and to determine students priorities and needs.
