It is the Spanish Teacher’s responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.
Summary:
The Secondary School Spanish Teacher reports to the Secondary School Assistant Principal, and is responsible for ensuring the spiritual, academic, and emotional growth and achievement of students.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Demonstrates a love for God and strong Christian walk; Mentors and models for their students what it means to be a follower of Christ. Establishes a developmentally appropriate, positive, and safe learning environment in which they teach Designs and delivers engaging classroom instruction aligned with best practices and curriculum standards; collaborates with the Foreign Language Department to support a curriculum that reflects the school’s mission and values. Teaches Spanish language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, through interactive and practical methods. Incorporates cultural content into lessons to enrich students’ understanding of Spanish-speaking countries and communities. Designs and delivers individual lesson plans using a variety of teaching techniques and appealing to various learning styles. Develops respectful and trusting relationships with each individual student, facilitates opportunities for spiritual, academic, and behavioral growth from a Christ centered Biblical worldview. Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents, school leadership, and fellow teachers through consistent communication and collaboration. Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records. Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors. Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars. Develops and maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in education. Required Skills & Abilities:
A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church. A clear understanding of and support for covenantal Christian education along with a desire to lead students in the development of a Christian worldview. Demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing commitment to the Christian faith. Possesses the ability to demonstrate a philosophy of Christian education and personal faith aligned with the mission and Statement of Belief of Bradenton Christian School. Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferably in Spanish language education. FL Teaching Certificate or Statement of Eligibility. Advanced or higher proficiency in Spanish, as defined by ACTFL proficiency standards, along with strong knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary, and training in second language instruction. Demonstrated ability to use a blended approach to ACTFL standards and conducting Spanish classes incorporating a deep focus on cultural understanding. Fluent in Spanish and English (both spoken and written). Proven experience teaching Spanish to students in a classroom setting. Must be a team player with a desire to help and serve others. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
