Job Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated 7th Grade Civics Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will create a learning environment that is conducive to student success and personal growth. This role involves ensuring the overall success of the school community by adhering to Board policies and state regulations. The primary responsibility includes performing tasks that require advanced knowledge and intellectual capabilities, along with the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. Essential Functions Develop comprehensive Civics curricula aligned with state and national standards, ensuring coverage of various governmental and civic concepts. Collaborate with administrators and coaches to design curricula that cater to students’ needs and interests. Create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that sparks curiosity, encourages active participation, and promotes critical thinking skills. Teach effectively using the required textbooks and materials, following prescribed study units, and employing approved teaching methods. Promote students’ academic progress and instill values such as honesty, civility, and responsibility. Treat students with kindness and respect, administering discipline according to state and school policies and procedures. Utilize a student-centered approach with interactive discussions, problem-solving activities, and technology integration to enhance learning. Implement differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs and learning styles of all students. Maintain clear communication with parents, guardians, and administrators regarding student progress. Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student learning and provide constructive feedback. Continuously seek opportunities to improve your teaching practice through workshops, conferences, and ongoing self-reflection. Attend educational conferences as required by law, the Department of Education, or the Principal. Adhere to Florida Standards and state assessments. Develop lesson plans aligned with the Florida Standards and Instructional Focus Calendar. Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and cooperate with school officials in enforcing school laws and regulations. Maintain accurate school records as required by state law and school policies. Participate in safety and emergency drills as prescribed by law and school policies and procedures. Ensure all school property is accounted for and returned upon closing or suspending school. Work effectively with colleagues, specialists, and school leadership to ensure a cohesive educational program. Sponsor or participate in Civics clubs, projects, or competitions to further student engagement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of civics content. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Proficiency in basic mathematical operations and the ability to interpret data. Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions. Proficiency in educational software and word processing tools. Ability to manage students and multiple tasks effectively. Willingness to devote additional hours for grading, lesson planning, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge in the field of education. A four-year degree in Education and a State of Florida Letter of Eligibility, Temporary Certificate, or Professional Certificate.
Preferred certifications or endorsements:
Clinical Educator, Gifted, and ESOL. Strong classroom management skills. Knowledge of assessment methods and differentiated instruction strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Education or Social Studies. 3 Experience teaching Civics. Commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Proficiency in integrating technology to enhance learning.
Physical Demands:
Regular verbal and written communication. Significant periods of standing and sitting. Occasional lifting and moving of up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
