Program Overview R.I.S.E. is a STEAM focused after school program at Charles R. Drew Charter School. We provide engaging academic and enrichment opportunities to over 400 students in grades PreK to 5th. Students are divided into academies based on grade level: Primary Academy (PreK – 2nd), Elementary Academy (3rd – 5th). Each week, students participate in two enrichment courses of their choosing instructed by industry professionals. Additionally, participants complete various activities with Program Instructors that focus on combining core subjects, STEAM and recreation. Staff report from 3:00-6:00pm; student program begins at 3:45pm.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructors work 3 hours per day (3:00 pm – 6:00 pm), 5 days per week. Lead single grade level academic class. Actively engage students in weekly activities. Assist students with reading and homework assignments. Monitor and assist students during enrichment courses. Utilize various electronic devices and computer programs for instruction. Implement grade appropriate lessons and special initiatives based upon the RISE curriculum. Maintain daily class attendance and snack records. Monitor student progress and needs as appropriate and report regularly to the Project Facilitator. Meet with other RISE staff to create grade appropriate lesson plans. Attend staff meetings, training courses, performances, presentations, etc. as required and prepare students for performances or presentations as appropriate. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Other duties and responsibilities as determined.
