OVERVIEW OF POSITION

To provide students the opportunity to achieve academic success and workforce skills necessary to compete in a global economy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

1. Establishes high expectations to include implementation of instructional outcomes to specify learner outcomes in clear,concise, objectives.
2. Follows state/local guidelines for planning and instruction and aligns lessons with locally designed curricula to include identification and planning for individual differences.
3. Submits lesson plans and other required documentation electronically, as necessary which include identified materials and methods of evaluation of learner outcomes.
4. Organizes available space, materials, and/or equipment to facilitate learning, promotes a positive learning climate, manages routines and transitions in a timely manner, utilizes resources effectively, establishes high expectations for learner behavior, employs monitoring techniques to facilitate learning, and disciplines consistently and uses acceptable methods.
5. Employs technique(s) which develop(s) lesson objectives, sequences lessons to promote learning, presents accurate subject matter, manages and/or adjusts time for activities planned, presents content at a developmentally appropriate level, utilizes effective questioning techniques, utilizes effective discussion techniques.
6. Accommodates individual differences, selects teaching resource(s) that support lesson objective(s), including integration of technology, stimulates and encourages higher order thinking at the appropriate development levels, encourages student participation, relates relevant examples, unexpected situations, or current events to the content, utilizes effective grouping arrangement, prepares for and conducts virtual instruction, remains accessible to students.
7. Monitors ongoing performance of students, employs appropriate and effective assessment techniques, provides timely feedback to students regarding their progress, produces evidence of student academic growth under his/her instruction, familiarizes students with assessment criteria, encourages student self-assessment, and utilizes assessment data to guide instruction.
8. Attends meetings generally associated with the instruction of students. Attends training sessions germain to the position as required for professional development
9. Identifies areas of instruction that need strengthening and develops with a mentor and/or principal a plan for improvement and works to complete the plan, and seeks and employs ideas and strategies from resources or colleagues that will improve teaching and learning.
10. Participates in grade level and subject area curriculum planning and evaluation, implements school improvement plan at the classroom level, serves on task force(s) and/or committees upon request, provides clear and timely information to parents/caregivers and colleagues regarding classroom expectations, student progress, and ways they can assist learning, encourages parents/caregivers to become active partners in their children’s education and to become involved in school and classroom and seeks community involvement in instructional program when appropriate.
11. Communicates with students in a fair and positive manner to promote independent student effort and develop positive self-concepts and respect for others while adhering to policies relative to professional relationships and communication with students.
12. Maintains regular attendance and punctuality. Any absences or late arrivals require notification to principal/designee in a prompt manner per site based designated procedures.
13. Communicates effectively with staff, parents and community members.
14. Develops an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or IFSP—special education teachers only
15. Maintains confidentiality of all matters related to students and employees.
16. Utilizes school technology and maintains student interaction in accordance with district and school policies
17. Assists in enforcing and complies with school/Board rules and policies
18. Exhibits positive personal behavior on and off campus and avoids impropriety or the appearance of impropriety.
19. Ensures proper care of textbooks, teaching aids, and equipment
20. Maintains current gradebook, records, and reports as assigned.
21. Adheres to mandatory reporting requirements as established by law.
22. Projects a well-groomed professional appearance
23. Complies with the Code of Conduct as established by BPSB policy
24. Meets the criteria for a Professional Growth Plan as set forth by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) in Bulletin 130•Regulations for the Evaluation and Assessment of School Personnel and the Bossier Parish Program of Professional Personnel Evaluation
25. Assumes student supervision duties outside of the classroom as related to school safety, climate, and culture.
26. Assumes additional responsibilities as the Principal may assign to include but not limited to extra-curricular activities that relate to students interests and opportunities. Any work to be performed outside of an employee’s job duties and responsibilities shall require the employee to (1) submit a written description of the services to be performed and the estimated time to complete the task, which shall be submitted to the employee’s immediate supervisor prior to commencing such services, (2) obtain the prior written approval of the employee’s immediate supervisor, and (3) obtain supplemental, written authority from the employee’s immediate supervisor before exceeding the initial estimated time for performing such services. Such employee shall submit a completed form reflecting the services actually provided and the time spent for each item, rounded to the nearest one-tenth of an hour, within seven (7) calendar days of performing such services.
