$40,000-$55,000 Bishop Stang’s Mission Bishop Stang High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory school of 550 students located along the beautiful South Coast of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Description We are seeking a faithful, empathetic, and dedicated Theology Teacher to join our high school faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will be committed to nurturing the spiritual, moral, and intellectual development of students in alignment with the teachings of the Catholic Church. This position plays a vital role in helping students explore and deepen their faith, understand Catholic doctrine and traditions, and engage thoughtfully with questions of purpose, ethics, and service in the modern world. A passion for Catholic education, strong communication skills, and the ability to foster meaningful dialogue in the classroom are essential. Primary Responsibilities Teach engaging and developmentally appropriate Theology courses grounded in Sacred Scripture, Catholic doctrine, Church history, morality, and social teaching, in alignment with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Foster a classroom environment that supports spiritual growth, critical thinking, and respectful dialogue about matters of faith, ethics, and the human experience. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Catholic values across the curriculum and school culture, ensuring consistency in messaging and mission. Support students pastorally and spiritually through mentorship, prayer, and compassionate presence, recognizing the individual dignity of each student. Develop and implement creative lesson plans and assessments that reflect a range of learning styles and encourage personal reflection, inquiry, and active faith. Encourage student participation in liturgies, retreats, service opportunities, and other faith-based activities that promote Catholic identity and community life. Maintain open and respectful communication with parents, campus ministers, and school leadership regarding student progress and formation. Participate actively in the spiritual life of the school, including prayer services, Masses, faculty faith formation, and Catholic feast day celebrations. Stay current on Church teachings, theological scholarship, and best practices in Catholic education through ongoing professional development. Uphold and model the values of the Gospel, witnessing to Christ through word and example in and beyond the classroom.
Other Responsibilities:
Additional duties as assigned and approved by the School Counseling Chairperson and the
Administration Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Catholic Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree in Theology or Religious Education strongly preferred). Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, with a commitment to upholding and teaching according to the Magisterium. Prior experience teaching Theology or working in Catholic education at the secondary level (preferred). Strong knowledge of Catholic doctrine, Scripture, Church history, liturgy, and moral theology. Ability to create a faith-filled, engaging, and academically rigorous classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and spiritual development. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to connect meaningfully with students, colleagues, and families. Demonstrated commitment to collaboration with faculty, campus ministry, and school leadership to promote a vibrant Catholic identity. Willingness to actively participate in the school’s spiritual life, co-curricular offerings, retreats, and mission-aligned initiatives.
