Job Description

Lead Early Childhood Montessori Guide Pioneer Valley Montessori School 1524 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129 Pioneer Valley Montessori School in Springfield, MA is seeking an AMS/AMI credentialed lead teacher to run a Children’s House classroom, to begin August 25, 2025. We are one of only two schools fully accredited by the American Montessori Society in the Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut area and have been in operation since 1964. This individual will be responsible for preparing a Children’s House environment, implementing Montessori lessons in all areas of the curriculum, facilitating parent engagement/education and conferences, and record and data management. A successful candidate will bring creativity, joyful enthusiasm, professionalism, dependability and a dedication to equity. Hours are 7:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, with a 45 minute break and 30 minutes of preparation time daily. We operate on a school-year schedule September-June, which includes three vacations (Winter, February and April) and observance of holidays. The most qualified candidate will:

Hold an AMS/AMI Early Childhood Teaching Credential at the 3-6 level, or be willing to enroll in a MACTE accredited training program. Have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant field Relate joyfully and sensitively to children in your care and enjoy the humor and disposition of the 3-6 year old. Have firm yet kind classroom management skills that may include support of neurodiverse children Maintain a beautiful and inviting classroom environment that fosters peace and community Feel comfortable sharing your vision with and guiding other staff members who are assisting in your classroom Have excellent written communication skills to create progress reports and weekly email updates for families Enjoy learning and engage with inspiring professional development; observe classrooms within and outside of PVMS; and seek and attend professional development that inspires you. Enjoy building relationships with parents that include strong and compassionate parent communication; parent education on Montessori principles, and engaging parents in the community through volunteerism Enjoy spending time outside Be organized; attentive to details; and a careful observer, including observing and reflecting on your own classroom daily and making adjustments to the program based on your reflections. Have technical skills that support student learning, parent communication (Google and Microsoft applications) and accurate record keeping (Transparent Classroom). Collaborate effectively with other staff members on curriculum planning, community events, student support, and continued professional growth.
