POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title:
High School Agricultural Teacher/FFA Advisor
Qualifications:
Valid Missouri certificate issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the subject area being taught Have basic knowledge of the structure and workings of the National FFA Organization.
Reports To:
Building Principal
Job Goal:
To assist students in learning the appropriate subject matter, skills and/or attitudes that will contribute to their development as responsible citizens.
Performance Objectives:
Participates in curriculum review and design
Employs a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives
Diagnoses and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner
Monitors student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
Refers student for alternative services as provided by the St. James R-I School District (ESL, Reading, etc.)
Establish effective rapport with students
Formulate good relationships with parents and the community
Teaches the curriculum adopted and approved by the St. James R-1 School Board of Education
Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil through the use of technology
Communicates regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
Available to students and parents for education-related purposes
Plans and coordinates the work of employees, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student
Creates an environment for learning
Comply with federal, state, local, and Board of Education policies and regulations
Other professional duties as may be assigned by the Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment is on an annual basis. The Building Principal makes employment recommendations in March of each year for the next fiscal year. The final decision is made by the Board of Education. Salary is based on the Certificated Salary Schedule adopted annually by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of MSBA Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Professional Staff (GCN).
