Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred Middle or high school teaching experience preferred Experience with learner-centered instructional models (e.g., UDL, Design Thinking, Project-Based Learning) Familiarity with educational technology tools and virtual/hybrid learning models Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing needs, work collaboratively, and build innovative learning experiences Entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to equity and personalized learning
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The SparkLab Leader is responsible for leading, designing, and delivering innovative learning experiences for students enrolled in SparkNC — a cutting-edge initiative focused on expanding student access to high-tech career pathways. This educator will support student engagement through in-person, virtual, and blended learning opportunities aligned with personalized, competency-based approaches.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Recruitment and Retention Develop and implement a marketing plan to promote SparkNC to students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders Recruit students throughout the school year, with an emphasis on engaging populations underrepresented in high-tech fields Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment with clear structures and expectations Instructional Design and Delivery Design and implement personalized learning experiences aligned with student interests and career goals in high-tech fields Collaborate with SparkNC partners, fellow SparkLab Leaders, and industry experts to co-facilitate in-person and virtual instructional sessions Coordinate technical logistics for learning experiences, including field trips, guest speakers, and troubleshooting technical issues Student Progress and Personalized Learning Guide students in developing durable skills (e.g., problem-solving, collaboration, adaptability) essential to high-tech careers Collaboratively establish progress checkpoints and feedback loops with students to ensure learning outcomes are met Validate student work and collaborate with SparkNC and district leads to determine credit-awarding processes Partnership Development and Professional Learning Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, higher education institutions, and community organizations to support field-based learning Engage in required SparkNC professional development, including monthly virtual sessions and up to four in-person events annually Maintain consistent communication with Sampson County Schools leadership and SparkNC staff to report student progress and program feedback
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
