Job Description
AIG Secondary Lead Teacher (10 month)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Director of Advanced Learning and Chief Academic Officer

Role:

The AIG Area Lead Teacher supports and implements AIG programming for the district.
This includes but is not limited to: enrichment and acceleration, screening and identification
services, curriculum development, professional development, SEL support and best practices
for continuous improvement in all grade levels K-12.

Qualifications:

Must hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License
Must be endorsed for AIG
Must have 3 or more years of successful K-12 teaching experience and experience
teaching AIG students
Master’s degree in Teaching, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of appropriate academically or intellectually gifted
instructional strategies, best practices, trends in elementary, middle and high school.
Experience in planning and delivering professional development
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Highly organized
Has a passion for gifted students and gifted education
Experience in data analysis
Experience in engaging, building and maintaining positive relationships with parents,
students, staff, and community entities
Ability to use sensitivity and maintain confidentiality
Ability to multi-task and differentiate issues that are time sensitive

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors and implements AIG services in accordance with the AIG plan and district
strategic direction
Designs and implements activities relating to AIG, including but not limited to the AIG
nurturing, LEEP program, enrichment, acceleration and transition programming grades
6-12 for assigned middle and high school
Implements the screening, referral and identification process associated with the AIG
program, utilizing current screening methods and tools outlined in the AIG plan so that
underserved students can been screened and served
Regularly assist instructional personnel with AIG related services including modeling
lessons, co-teaching, and the implementation of best practices
Collects and analyzes data relevant to AIG programming
Maintains accurate recordkeeping and reporting
Actively participates in regular AIG Lead teacher PLCs
Reviews educational research related to improving student achievement and promotes
research-based best practices for AIG
Provides professional development for AIG classroom teachers
Collaborate with the AIG Coordinator, school principals, instructional support staff, and
teachers to design and implement best instructional practices associated with AIG
Performs other related duties as assigned
This position is paid on a 10-month teacher scale.
