Position Title:

Executive Director and MS Administrative Team Works With:

All Middle School Staff, Students, and/or

Families Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and/or create daily lesson plans and learning activities for students based on state standards and content for high school science Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations and independent practice using a variety of proven methods Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency or level of interest in the subject Maintain a safe, orderly and supportive classroom by modeling expected behavior and standards, promoting positive interactions and quickly addressing behaviors that are not in line with the school discipline plan Collaborate with special education staff for the purpose of attaining goals designated in students’ IEPs and 504 plans Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior periodically through phone or electronic means and at parent and teacher conferences if necessary Assess students’ scientific skills for the purposes of refining classroom activities and providing feedback to students, parents and administrations regarding students’ progress, expectations and goals Participate and is a contributing member of the Southern Wake Academy High School team for the purpose of improving students’ appreciation and love of science Actively participate in professional development opportunities and collaborates with personnel and peers for the purposes of improving the quality of student outcomes and planning curriculum in science Treat all students in a fair and equitable manner, and interacts effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrates evidence of growth Demonstrate knowledge of and supports Southern Wake Academy’s mission, vision and value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior Perform other related work as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Working knowledge of eCATS, Google Suite, and PowerSchool computer software programs Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students, particularly when a student is participating in an inclusive activity Ability to motivate students Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment Ability to perform general clerical duties Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom Ability to operate common office machines Ability to maintain basic files and records Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments

Education, Training Required:

Bachelor’s degree in English Education or a related field. Must have a current North Carolina teaching license or a teaching license in a reciprocal state.
