Middle School Math and Science Teacher Milton M. Daniels Learning Center 723 Elvie South Street, Wilson, NC 27893

Greetings Potential Candidate:

This position will be available May 2025. The Math & Science Teacher at Daniels will teach grades 6-8 with class sizes that are less than 15 students. Although Daniels Learning Center is an alternative school the candidate chosen will work with our students in the Bridges Program. Bridges is designed to help students recoup lost ground and be caught up to their correct grade level. It is also for students who are better suited for a condensed schedule. Students will experience blended learning via a certified face-to-face instructor and a computer-based program called Edgenuity. The program is suited for students who can work well independently and may have extenuating circumstances that caused them not to perform well in their base school. Students selected for this program will recieve behavior and social-emotional learning support to aid in their transition back to their base school.

Program hours:

7:30 am-10:30 am or 11:30 am- 2:25 pm.

Qualifications:

NC Professional Educator’s License, or at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an educated-related area that will qualify for licensure as a Teacher in NC Experience working with a diverse population of students regardless of abilities or needs Experience with Google applications as well as proficiency in use of technology

Essential Job Functions:

Follows district guidelines, regulations and best practices to ensure a safe and age-appropriate environment that promotes learning Models, implements and assesses strategies related to learning, social, emotional and behavioral needs to enhance educational programming for all learners Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary. Provides social-emotional learning opportunities to student to help students better manage their emotions, show empathy, and manage their behavior Maintains open, effective communication with the student’s parents Manages parent/guardian student progress notifications in the online platform Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Maintains student confidentiality Identify and select different instructional resources, materials, and methods to meet students’ varying needs with fidelity Plan, prepare and deliver schemes of work, and lesson plans with instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences based on the student’s current level. Provides engaging evidence-based interventions to small groups of students based on student needs and the NC Standard Course of Study Maintains a database of student progress and analyze data records to drive instruction Collaborates with building administrator and staff to support the MTSS framework and needs Collaborates with the Intervention Coordinator and designated personnel to facilitate student interventions Assists in the development and implementation of intervention plans for students Collaborate with the school counselor and refer students for mental health services as needed Promotes effective interpersonal relations and engages in continuing professional growth activities Participate in department and school meetings as well as parent meetings. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
