The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a love of reading and writing in students, while developing their skills in critical thinking, communication, and literary analysis. This position includes teaching 4 classes of 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts in a supportive and collaborative learning environment. In addition, it includes 1 class per day supporting students in a Guided Study.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in English, Education, or a related field
  • Valid teaching certification for Middle School English/Language Arts (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring middle school learners
  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons in reading, writing, speaking, and listening
  • Guide students through a variety of literary genres including novels, poetry, drama, and nonfiction
  • Foster strong writing skills across narrative, persuasive, analytical, and expository formats
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform instruction
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and a growth mindset
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom happenings
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary projects, assessments, and school events
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development, and extracurricular activities as needed.
