Job Description

Middle School Mathematics Teacher (Grades 6-8) St. Denis-St. Columba School 849 Main Street, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 Saint Denis-St. Columba School is seeking a full-time elementary/middle school mathematics teacher (Grades 6-8) for the 2025-26 School Year. St. Denis-St. Columba School is a Catholic co-educational school located in Hopewell Junction, NY. Professional Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree (or working towards it) and current New York State certification Extensive undergraduate coursework and/or degree in Mathematics or related discipline and/or prior Math teaching experience strongly preferred. Able to teach English Language Arts and Religion. Commitment to the educational goals and objectives of St. Denis-St. Columba School and the mission of the Catholic Church. Practicing Catholic who inspires and engages students, parents and fellow faculty to further their spiritual development and academic excellence. Possesses a high level of integrity and an extraordinary work ethic. Desires to lead and participate in the life of an energetic Catholic school with a willingness to participate in and attend student, parent, and development functions. Encourages individuality, spiritual growth, academic achievement, and social development in students. Open to growth and has enthusiasm for learning. Willing to be a member of a collaborative team of teachers. Able to establish positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community. Understands the behavior, emotional, and cognitive needs of elementary and middle school students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, prepare and execute lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active learning. Ensure lessons are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with NY State and Archdiocese of New York academic standards. Develop and use a variety of formative and summative assessments (e.g., exams and written work) to measure student progress. Use assessment data to differentiate student instruction to meet individual student needs. Integrate blended learning strategies and instructional methods to facilitate student growth. Ensure that students master grade-level math standards. Incorporate other disciplines/subject areas and projects into math instruction to encourage higher level reasoning and demonstrate application of math in real world settings. Utilize technology effectively in student learning and instruction. Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development. Maintain an organized and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning. Have effective classroom management skills and maintain high academic and personal expectations for all students. Specific Grade Level assignments are dependent on the candidate’s strengths and qualifications. MUST have a current New York Teaching License with appropriate certifications or eligibility to be certified . Successful background check and completion of Safer Spaces Training upon hire.
