Middle School Teacher (Emphasis on Math) for 2025/26 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 11550 221st St, Cambria Heights, NY 11411 Sacred Heart Catholic Academy is looking for a homeroom Math Teacher to join our team. Responsibilities Provide classroom instruction appropriate to junior high school grades (6th, 7th, 8th) Engage students using an inductive, inquiry-driven, collaborative, and rigorous curriculum that inspires intellectual curiosity, fosters a sense of wonder, enables and inspires depth of insight, reinforces the joy of inquiry and pursuit of understanding, and prepares students for life-long learning Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and targeted intervention that strengthens student achievement Design coherent instruction and setting instructional outcomes (lesson plans) Cultivate students’ higher order thinking skills, including their ability to analyze, create, synthesize and evaluate Nurture in students a love of learning, especially a passion for ordered, logical and systematic scientific reasoning, and strengthen a school-wide culture of inquiry Create a community of learners, in which students assume a large part of the responsibly for the success of a lesson by engaging in high-level discussion, making suggestions, initiating improvements, monitoring their learning against clear standards, and serve as resources to one another Experience/Qualifications Actively engage students of all abilities and learning styles Create differentiated unit plans and assessments Assign and review meaningful homework Demonstrate effective classroom management Collaborate with faculty and administration Communicate effectively with parents and families Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher Possess or be pursuing relevant NYS Certification Must be able to pass a background check before employment begins.
