Teaching Full Job Description Middle School STEM Major Teacher Philadelphia Performing Arts:
A String Theory Charter School is seeking a full-time teacher to join the middle school STEM Majors department at the Vine Street Campus (1600 Vine Street). This campus provides a unique educational environment wherein all students can focus on the arts and sciences as major subjects while fulfilling the mandates of a standard academic curriculum. This STEM Majors program focuses on project-based instruction and learning through experimentation. A successful candidate must employ a hands-on approach to teaching and possess a nuanced ability to connect subjects to life experiences and real world situations, along with creating cross-curricular educational opportunities for students. Special preference will be given to candidates with experience/desire in leading students in competitive opportunities and/or building opportunities for student participation beyond the classroom. An interest in Makerspaces is a plus. PA secondary certification in a related subject is preferred. STEM Teacher description and key competencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree
- PA secondary (including middle grades certification in related subject is preferred
- Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required
- Criminal history, child abuse and FBI clearances (Acts 34, 151 and FBI) String Theory Schools teaching candidates…

- Ability to use or willingness to learn technology integration to improve teaching and learning
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom where student choice, inquiry, differentiation, and authentic learning are high values

- Analyze and regularly use both qualitative and quantitative data to inform your practice
- Cultivate higher order thinking skills through inquiry
