The Secondary Credit Recovery Teacher is a classroom instruction specialist. The credit recovery teacher provides highlevel academic support and instruction to students in their content area with the goal of recovering credits to facilitate timely graduation. Teaching positions are based upon enrollment and funding. Teachers with ESL endorsements are preferred. A minimum of 10 students is required to run a course.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
RIDE Requirements Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate subject areas 7-12
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program
Prior experience in in supporting students in a class environment as well as in a tutor/mentor style relationship ensuring students successfully attain mastery to recover content credits
Ability to differentiate and scaffold instruction to support and accelerate learning
An asset-based view of diverse cultures and a belief in growth mindset
Excellent organizational and communication skills: track and support students in multiple modes of learning
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
Hosting and setting expectations for daily virtual and in-seat instruction
Monitor Edgenuity progress, provide individualized support, provide direct instruction to students, set goals
Support students with content area instruction
Host in-person check-in meetings with students in virtual learning options
Refer students to Community Specialists and counselors to make outreach calls/home visits for attendance
Provide whole group, small group, and individual instruction based on student credit recovery needs Administer and interpret educational assessments
Implement a range of effective instructional strategies and classroom interventions
Promote an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students
Participate fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, and selfreflection/evaluation
Supervise students in a range of settings; protect and promote the safety and well-being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials/facilities
Communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents and the community and promote intellectual, physical, social, and emotional student learning
Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development Daily, weekly grades and attendance; Must commit to working all days of program
