The School Nurse plays a critical role in supporting student health, managing chronic and acute medical needs, administering medications, maintaining health records, and promoting wellness throughout the school community. This position can be full-time or part-time, depending on availability and staffing needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct care to students and staff for injuries and acute illness Administer prescribed medications and manage health care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, allergies) Maintain accurate and confidential student health records Monitor immunization compliance and ensure DHEC reporting is up to date Conduct vision, hearing, and other routine screenings Collaborate with staff and parents to support students’ physical and emotional well-being Promote a healthy school environment through education, hygiene, and wellness initiatives Respond to emergencies and coordinate care with EMS when necessary Follow all state health guidelines and school policies

Qualifications:

Current RN or LPN license in the state of South Carolina CPR and First Aid certification (required) Experience in pediatric, school, or public health nursing preferred Strong communication, organization, and record-keeping skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a school team
