This teacher will also teach one section of a middle school Enrichment class consisting of at least four distinct elective units (arts, sciences, humanities, etc.). Hours are 8 am – 4 pm M-F, with a teaching load of 4-5 hours per day. This teacher will also serve as a faculty advisor for a group of 8-12 students and have recurring responsibilities to oversee student community spaces, teach a special-interest workshop, and/or monitor a student-run club. Teachers are also expected to attend and participate fully in all training, including in the summer. Occasional after-school events for admissions or student programming are required. Templeton Academy teachers are revolutionizing the way Students learn by mentoring the critical thinking and problem-solving skills they need to thrive in college, career, and life. We do this through a Core Advisor y program that addresses the whole student, Project-Based Learning so students can utilize voice and choice, and Fieldwork , in which students use the city as a classroom a minimum of once a week, preferably more. Duties:
To plan and teach courses as outlined by the Head of School Use Gold Standard Project-Based Learning to design and teach each course culminating in a high-quality exhibition at the end of each term. Create, revise and use curriculum aligned with core competencies. Use our LMS consistently and effectively to ensure clear communication with parents and students. Consistently follow grading and feedback guidelines and submit and meet submission deadlines. Differentiate instruction within the classroom and provide early intervention when challenges occur. Follow existing protocols related to academic and/or behavioral concerns. Use personal learning plans to guide instruction, as needed. To plan and execute high quality FieldWork that integrates with the course material and encourages students to understand the real-world application and impact of what they learn in the classroom. To serve as a mentor to a small group of students and facilitate their work through our Core Advisory curriculum.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field. Significant experience teaching science at the middle and high school level, especially grades 7-10. Experience with project-based learning is preferred. Demonstrable success teaching science to students across ability level. Competency in Social and Emotional Learning.
