Full Job Description Purpose and Scope:
This part-time role is ideal for educators looking for flexible or extra work while still making a significant impact on students over the summer. The primary focus is to assist in an accelerated learning environment, helping students boost their readiness for college, careers, and community engagement through a summer leadership program. In this position, will work in a specialized setting with an emphasis on mentoring and student development, offering a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the educational community during the summer.
Essential Job Functions:
This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge or abilities associated with this classification but is intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements. Develops a summer school learning environment that supports education and is suitable for the students’ maturity and needs. Prepares instructional materials for assigned classes and provides support of preparation to the leadership team when requested. Sets expectations for classroom behavior and ensures effective classroom management both inside and outside the school. Evaluates student progress on a scheduled basis and provides written and oral updates to parents/guardians, the Site Administrator – Summer School, and relevant staff. Collaborates with parents and relevant resource staff to develop personalized educational programs for students. Chaperones and attends all cohort community experiences, this included riding the school bus with students. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed Develops and assists students with academic exercises and class activities; concentrates efforts with small groups of students and individuals, as necessary. Utilizes effective instructional practices, behavior management strategies, assessment techniques and directed teaching methods. Collects and compiles statistical data as needed for accountability and program development. Collects, organizes and completes information necessary for reports and evaluation. Communicates and collaborates effectively with central office staff and community service providers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduated from an accredited college or university with Bachelor’s degree. Valid Tennessee professional teacher’s license. Minimum of two (2) years of successful classroom experience. Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement. (PROOF

Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience. Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
