Part-Time Overview:

Orion Antiques is seeking a meticulous and passionate Antique Cataloger to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, a love for history, and a solid background in antiques, cataloging, and photography. You’ll play a key role in curating and documenting fine items for auction and retail sale through platforms like LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable, and eBay.

This is a hands-on position that combines research, photography, and inventory management in a collaborative and craftsmanship-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Catalog and research a wide variety of antique and vintage items, including furniture, artwork, collectibles, and jewelry Write detailed, accurate, and engaging item descriptions, noting provenance, condition, dimensions, and key features Accurately enter and maintain item data in our inventory database Label, track, and organize inventory across departments and storage locations Assist in auction setup and logistics, including handling and preparing consignment items Perform regular audits of cataloged items to ensure quality and consistency Occasionally assist with unloading, unpacking, and cleaning items for cataloging Lift and move boxes or items up to 20 pounds as needed

Qualifications:

Prior experience in antique sales, galleries, museums, or auction houses Strong research skills and familiarity with art, antiques, and collectibles Comfortable working with inventory databases and online sales platforms Exceptional writing, proofreading, and organizational skills Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines High school diploma or equivalent (college degree or GIA certification a plus) Attention to detail and commitment to quality are essential

Monday to Friday schedule Must pass a background check and drug screening Physical requirements include the ability to handle and move inventory Portfolio or examples of past cataloging/photography work are welcome
