This position reports directly to the Tibbals Curator of Circus with a dotted line to the Associate Director of Collections/Senior Registrar to coordinate activities and processes.
- Manages and documents the Circus Collections. Primary duties include the development and management of object files and the tracking of object movement.
- Supports conservation staff in creation of condition reports and oversees the re-housing and processing of collection objects including documentation and photography.
- Works closely with the Tibbals Curator of Circus, Tibbals Exhibit Manager, and colleagues across the museum in fulfilling installation and de-installation needs for exhibitions, gallery rotations, conservation treatments, and security requirements.
- Monitors environmental conditions in gallery and vault spaces. Participates in planning and response to hurricanes and other potential emergencies that impact collections.
- Interfaces with donors and constituents from the circus and museum communities. Qualifications Education
- Bachelor’s degree in art, art history, museum studies, public history, or a related field and four years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.

- Master’s Degree in Museum Studies or a related field. Experience
- Five years Registration and/or Collections Management experience with evidence of responsibility for varying museum collections plus knowledge of current museum standards and best practices.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills capable of handling multiple simultaneous projects. Knowledge
- Applicable computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and applications related to collections management databases.
- Standard museum loan and registration practices including experience with loan documentation, shipment coordination, contract review, and fine arts insurance.
- Art storage and display methods, techniques, and procedures. Ability
- Apply the processes, procedures and methods used in museum operations in compliance with applicable governing entities such as the American Alliance of Museums
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate with staff in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
