Job Description Summary Performs general housekeeping duties as directed, under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator and Director of Facilities, while working within a museum environment requiring special care and attention to preservation and security. •Please note: The hours for this position may include weekends and some evenings during special events as scheduled.

Job Description Essential Functions:

Cleans facility rooms to include windows, doors and glass, vacuuming, dusting and emptying trash. Cleans common areas, bathrooms, hallways and stairwells. Mops kitchen, flower room, pantry. Mops/waxes game room, bowling room, shooting gallery, bar, pool area. Sweeps front and back entrances, keeping outside porches clear of leaves and debris. Spot cleans carpet as needed. Reports all matters of safety to Facilities Coordinator and/or Director of Facilities, as needed. Follows all policies and procedures of the Historic House and Museum. Able to wash and dry linens using conventional washer and dryer. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

High school graduate plus one year work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Ability to prioritize cleaning issues as needed. Ability to read and understand safety procedures. Ability to read and follow cleaning instructions and schedules. Basic knowledge of housekeeping and cleaning practices. Basic knowledge of the Reynolda House Museum or ability to learn in a short period of time. Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language. Ability to work occasional evenings as required.

Physical Requirements:

Medium work. Talking, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing, pulling, grasping. Close visual acuity. Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.

Accountabilities:

Works with general supervision. Accountable for accomplishing daily cleaning schedule as assigned. Must arrive on time and be dependable.
