out of 5 stars Birmingham, AL 35205 Description This is a senior level position responsible for the management of a team, operations of ArtPlay, and programming going forward adheres to the mission of UAB Center for the Arts. The Director of ArtPlay serves an essential role in assessing, developing, and refining ArtPlay programs and operations. This position is responsible for the implementation and management of all aspects of community and external engagement for ArtPlay in collaboration with the UAB Center for the Arts. The Director, leading the staff, is responsible for interpreting and executing ArtPlay’s strategic goals, identifying opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration, managing a six-figure budget, and maintaining the visibility of ArtPlay. Skills Extensive knowledge of the arts and arts education, as well as experience dealing with professional artists, university systems, community organizations and schools, and granting agencies, is strongly preferred. A demonstrated commitment to publicly accessible arts education, as demonstrated by working with faculty, educators, school systems, and/or teaching artists. – Masters Degree preferred, but not required A high level of attention to detail, with excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to work cross-culturally; demonstrated comfort working alongside a wide variety of stakeholders, including educators, community members, and major donors. Proven track record of designing and implementing arts education programs that are accessible to a diverse range of learners, including individuals with disabilities. Excellent communication, writing, and verbal skills; comfort presenting about UAB Center of the Arts programs in a variety of public settings, including meetings, panels, and conferences. $60,835 – $83,000 Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts Education, Art Administration, Fine Arts Administration or a related field and five (5) years of related experience. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
