Board of Directors President Organizational Overview PicklePlex® of Punta Gorda Inc is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting pickleball as a catalyst for community enrichment, health and wellness, and youth engagement. As a premier facility with 24 dedicated courts, we have a strong membership base and host recreational programming, tournaments, and outreach initiatives that bring people of all ages and backgrounds together through play. Position Summary The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of PicklePlex®, responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial leadership of the organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors President, the ED will oversee all aspects of the nonprofit’s growth and sustainability—including fundraising, facility operations and maintenance, programming, and community partnerships—ensuring that the organization fulfills its mission and maintains its reputation as a premier pickleball destination. This is a brand new position with endless possibilities for growth in the world’s fastest growing sport. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Governance Guide the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan. Maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with the Board of Directors and Florida SouthWestern State College. Develop and document policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with nonprofit governance. Ensure transparency, accountability, and consistent reporting to the Board. Fundraising & Resource Development Design and lead comprehensive fundraising strategies including major gifts, grants, sponsorships, capital campaigns, and annual giving. Cultivate donor relationships and steward community, foundation, and corporate partnerships. Promote a culture of philanthropy across staff, board, members and volunteers. Operations & Financial Management Manage day-to-day operations and oversee the 24-court facility and grounds. Develop and monitor the annual budget, financial statements, and compliance processes in coordination with the Treasurer. Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers to ensure efficient operations and a high-quality experience for members and visitors. Programs & Events Oversee the design, execution, and evaluation of mission-aligned programs, tournaments, and events. Nurture the development and supervise educational programs including professionally led pickleball instruction. Champion programs that promote inclusivity, youth and senior wellness, and adaptive play. Ensure a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for all users of the facility. Community Engagement & Outreach Act as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for PicklePlex® within the local, regional, and national pickleball communities. Build partnerships with schools, civic organizations, local governments, and underserved communities to expand access to the sport. Grow the opportunity to develop a collegiate program with Florida SouthWestern State College Represent PicklePlex® at community events, media opportunities, and public forums. Marketing & Communications Lead internal and external communications, including website, social media, newsletters, and public relations. Ensure consistent, mission-driven messaging and storytelling across platforms. Enhance the visibility of PicklePlex® and its impact on the Punta Gorda and greater Southwest Florida community. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in business,, recreation, or sports-related organization. Strong financial management skills including budgeting and reporting. Excellent written and verbal communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills. Strong computer software skills. Preferred Experience in fundraising, donor development, and strategic partnerships. Knowledge of facility operations, recreational programming, and event planning. Familiarity with pickleball and its role in community engagement. Experience with nonprofit management, Board of Directors, Public Administration, or related field. Experience with CRM and donor management systems (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce). Knowledge of the Southwest Florida philanthropic and civic landscape. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
