Part Time Weekend Automobile Museum Guest Experience Associate Job Overview:

The Tampa Bay Automobile Museum is a top destination in the Greater St. Petersburg/Clearwater region. As a Weekend Museum Associate, you will play a pivotal role in the visitor experience by providing exceptional customer service, sharing knowledge about the collection with guests, and assisting with retail operations in the gift shop. The Museum is proud to welcome visitors from our community and region, as well as those from around the country and world every day. This position requires excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor to engage with museum guests, and of course, a passion for automobiles. You will also be responsible for ensuring a seamless shopping experience, promoting museum merchandise and membership opportunities, and contributing to the overall success of the museum’s retail operations and guest experience.

Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

Greet Museum visitors warmly and assist with check-in that includes a welcome and introduction to the Museum and collection. Share information with customers and answer questions about automobile-related items, as well as inquiries regarding merchandise, exhibits, and general Museum information.

Retail Operations:

Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions. Maintain cleanliness, re-stock inventory, and keep the retail area organized. Carefully oversee the safety and condition of objects on display, including occasional dusting and wiping fingerprints to keep everything (including the cars) looking nice.

Public Engagement:

Actively promote Museum special events, memberships, and promotions to visitors to encourage sales and enhance overall visitor engagement and experience. Utilize knowledge of automobile history, culture, and our collection to engage customers in conversations about exhibits and related merchandise. Educate guests on the importance of preserving the history of automobiles.

Team Collaboration:

Collaborate with Museum staff, including directors, to clean, promote exhibits and events, and assist with other projects and tasks as needed. Communicate effectively with fellow associates and directors to ensure smooth coordination of daily operations and adherence to Museum policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in retail management or customer service is a plus. Previous museum, retail, customer service, or automotive-related environment experience. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse museum visitors. Proficiency using point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work weekends.

Schedule:

This is a weekend position and flexibility during the week is a plus . 9:30 am – 4:30 pm Saturday. 11:30 am – 4:30 pm Sunday. Hourly Rate $17.00 Join our team and contribute to preserving and promoting the rich history of automobiles while providing an unforgettable experience for museum visitors!
