Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends hours required in association with donor and member cultivation activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Individual Giving provides professional management, leadership, creativity, and resourcefulness to support the budgetary growth of development income through individual giving, with emphasis on major gifts. He/she will identify and support strategies for the following: donor portfolio management; donor relations; Annual Fund growth; annual solicitation appeals (digital + mail); online giving; tribute gift programs; and donor events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1

) Financial Accountability and Strategic Growth Manages $1M-$1.5M+ in contributed income achieved through donor portfolio management, gifts to The Annual Fund, and supplementary programs including but not limited to the End of Year campaign, Tribute Gifts, special events, and philanthropy awareness activities. Annually prepares/updates a 3-year strategic growth plan for portfolio of donors under management and The Annual Fund and its associated recognition program, the Giving Societies. Develops and implements pricing strategies, benefits, and a meaningful recognition plan for the Giving Societies Program to ensure sustained revenue growth. 2) Portfolio Management Manages a portfolio• of individual donors with major gift potential. Manages and executes all stages of the donor relationship including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and continual stewardship of donors within the portfolio. Meet reasonable fundraising metrics associated with portfolio management. This could include but not be limited to the number of contacts made, frequency of contact, number of $2,500+ of asks made, related actions, i.e. thank you notes, solicitation letters; donor event participation, movement in giving, and overall income growth in portfolio. Portfolio is fluid and subject to periodic changes based on donor communications and other fluctuations. 3) The Annual Campaign Works with leadership to leverage the Board of Trustees and volunteer leadership to ensure annual giving goals are met through prospect identification, donor retention, donor stewardship and donor diversification. Work closely with leadership and the Marketing department to develop effective and compelling messages, digital communications, videos, social media and printed materials that will appeal to individual donors/prospects and promote a culture of philanthropy. Works closely with leadership to create development guidelines, procedures and policies related to gift acceptance, gift entry, gift acknowledgement and gift substantiation; benefits, recognition and naming; donor privacy and confidentiality; and all other applicable policies. 4) Donor Events Plan unique donor cultivation and/or fundraising events and curated experiences for donors and their families. When appropriate, facilitate planning sessions to discuss event goals and strategies for success. Manage event budgetary goals and expenses. Work collaboratively with the Advancement, Marketing and Special Events departments as well as volunteer leadership teams and Host Committees on event goals; effective and sequenced communications (digital, social, print); and event logistics. 5) Management & Administration Serves as a partner to the VP and CAO on strategic growth through major gifts. Establishes and maintains cross-departmental alliances to meet goals of the department and support the overall health and vitality of Fernbank. Models exemplary service to donors, members, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree preferred. 3+ years of proven fundraising experience. Donor portfolio management experience a plus. Non-profit experience a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with donors, board members, volunteer leadership and other high-level decision makers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Ability to think analytically, creatively, and strategically. Adaptable, flexible, and motivated to meet goals. A measured approach with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Passion for education, conservation, and/or museums. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after satisfactory completion of 90-day probationary period.
