Assistant Director, Tulane Global Humanities Center Tulane Global Humanities Center Location:
New Orleans, LA Summary
The Assistant Director, reporting directly to the Director, oversees the administrative, financial, and programming operations of the Global Humanities Center. This role manages all budgetary matters, including overseeing both restricted and unrestricted ledgers in the center’s budget, forecasting expenditures, and advising the Director on financial decisions. A key responsibility is overseeing the Center’s internal grants/fellowships program which supports faculty research. This includes overseeing grant/fellowship applications, award management, and more. The assistant director may supervise staff, postdocs, and student employees, handles administrative elements of recruitment and training of student workers, and manages purchasing and records. They coordinate and plan events and programming, including promotion and marketing of programming and events, and process payments and reimbursements. They coordinate with the SLA Dean’s office, as needed, on all administrative matters including facilities, financial needs, and marketing and communications. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to supervise employees and students.
- Ability to communicate effectively between Center, other university units, and external partners.
- Must be highly organized and self-motivated, able to work independently.
- Skills to organize programming and events
- Skills in promotion and marketing of programming and events
- Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, and problem solving.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, marketing email programs (EMMA or Mailchimp), social media, and Tulane systems: Banner, TAMS, HCM, Kronos, Cognos, Concur, E-IT, Interfolio.
- Expert in time management and flexibility with multiple demands.
- Willingness to work irregular hours for events.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to new software, digital media, and on-line systems. Required Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field
- Four years experience in administrative, financial and programming management. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a humanities field.
- Experience in an academic setting, working with faculty, students, and other members of the university community.
- Previous event and programming management experience.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as “exempt, salaried” and is assigned to pay grade 26.
