  • New Orleans, LAThe National WWII Museum is currentlyseeking a Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT).

TheVP of IT will be responsible for leading the organization’stechnological vision and strategy, ensuring seamless integration ofinnovative solutions to support its mission and operationalobjectives. This executive leadership role will oversee thedevelopment and execution of a comprehensive, long-term technologyroadmap that enhances the Museum’s infrastructure, cybersecurity,and data integrity while aligning with industry best practices.

Additionally, the VP of IT will support the advancement of digitalinitiatives including the expansion of interactive digitalcollections and audience engagement. The ideal candidate will bringa blend of strategic leadership and hands-on expertise intechnology planning, network architecture, database management, andinteractive digital services, ensuring the Museum remains at theforefront of technological innovation.

RequirementsStrategicPlanning Provide leadership in collaboration with the Museum IT Team andother stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive,long-term technology strategy that aligns with the Museum’seducational, operational, and institutional goals. Establish a structured process for the continuous evaluation ofemerging technologies, ensuring the Museum remains agile inadopting innovative solutions that enhance efficiency andengagement. Collaborate with Museum departments to provide technicalsupport for creative digital strategies that enrich exhibits,programs, content delivery, and stakeholder communications. Foster cross-departmental collaboration by engaging Museumleadership in regular strategic discussions to assess evolvingtechnology needs, optimize application ecosystems, and enhance datamanagement frameworks. Oversee enterprise-wide technology infrastructure, ensuringrobust, scalable systems that facilitate seamless informationsharing, operational efficiency, and advanced project managementcapabilities.

Interactive Services Provide strategic oversight and leadership in the developmentand optimization of the Museum’s data infrastructure andcommunications systems, ensuring the secure and efficient transferof critical information across interactive and onlineplatforms. Work closely with Marketing & Communications and otherdepartments to implement robust, scalable data architectures andsupporting technologies that empower the Museum’s digitalcollections, website management, and outreach initiatives,enhancing its ability to fulfill its educational mission and expandaudience engagement. Develop and implement an Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategythat aligns with the Museum’s goals and objectives. Oversee theintegration of AI technologies into existing systems and processesto enhance efficiency and innovation. Stay current with AI trendsand advancements and proactively recommend improvements andinnovations.

Systems, Hardware, Software, and Network Administration Provide strategic oversight of the Museum’s networkinfrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalabilityof servers, switches, routers, and other critical ITcomponents. Direct the management and optimization of the Museum’stechnology asset inventory, including all peripheral and networkingequipment, to ensure operational efficiency and resourceaccountability. Safeguard the integrity and availability of the Museum’s data,ensuring robust security measures are in place to protect sensitiveinformation and applications. Implement and oversee a comprehensive data backup strategy anddisaster recovery plan, ensuring business continuity throughrigorous testing and proactive risk mitigation. Ensure the seamless operation and security of the Museum’sinternal and external communication systems, maintaininghigh-performance connectivity across all platforms. Lead the strategic planning and deployment of the Museum’s CCTVsecurity infrastructure to enhance physical security andsurveillance capabilities. Collaborate with departments to evaluate, select, and implementsoftware solutions that align with operational and strategicobjectives, optimizing functionality and user experience. Oversee IT support operations, including desktop supportservices and workflow tracking, to ensure timely resolution oftechnical issues and the continuous improvement of IT servicedelivery. Oversee relationships with technology vendors and serviceproviders, ensuring they comply with the Museum’s network and cybersecurity standards, and conduct audits and due diligence asrequired. Oversee the process of identifying potential threats,evaluating vulnerability levels, and implementing comprehensiverisk mitigation strategies. Oversee the development of leading rapid incident-responsestrategies and post-incident reviews to minimize disruption andenhance resilience.

Data Management Develop and implement a strategic vision for enterprise-widedata management, ensuring seamless integration, security, andscalability across key functional areas, including ticketing,merchandising, collections, fundraising, direct marketing,educational travel programs, accounting, and financialanalysis.

Administration & Compliance Develop and manage the annual technology budget, ensuringalignment with the Museum’s strategic priorities and operationalneeds. Support the identification and acquisition of fundingopportunities by assisting in the preparation of grant applicationsto secure resources for new and existing technologyinitiatives. Execute additional responsibilities assigned by the EVP andCFO, contributing to the Museum’s overall success and technologicaladvancement. Establish, implement, and enforce comprehensive IT policies toprotect the Museum’s technology assets and data, ensuringcompliance with industry best practices and regulatorystandards. Oversee and maintain the organization’s PCI compliance,ensuring the secure handling of payment transactions and adherenceto data security requirements. Oversee relevant regulations and standards (e.g., SOC2, GDPR,ISO 27001, NIST) to ensure the organization remains compliant andsecure.

Qualifications and Requirements A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field,with 5+ years of proven experience leading teams in a dynamic,fast-paced technology-driven environment. Demonstrated leadershipabilities are essential. In-depth expertise in database design, architecture, andmanagement tools, with a strong focus on scalability andoptimization. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with theability to motivate teams, articulate IT strategic vision acrossthe enterprise, and deliver effective training programs. Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team-orientedenvironment, fostering a culture of innovation and collectiveachievement. Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to managemultiple concurrent tasks under pressure while consistently meetingdeadlines and performance expectations. Flexibility to adapt to a non-standard work schedule, includingevenings and weekends, when necessary, to meet critical deadlinesand project requirements Physical capability to handle tasks requiring up to 20 poundsof lifting, prolonged standing or walking, and occasional bending,squatting, or reaching as needed for equipment use or taskcompletion.

Preferred Experience Proven experience leading an outcome-driven InformationTechnology team within a mid-sized organization, focusing ondelivering measurable business results. Expertise in innovative website design, leveraging cutting-edgemultimedia content delivery and eCommerce tools to optimize userexperience and engagement. Experience in network infrastructure management, including butnot limited to Local Area Networks (LAN), wireless, VoIP systems,and fiber-optic networks. Proficient in managing Storage Area Networks (SAN) andimplementing robust backup solutions to ensure data integrity andavailability. Demonstrates strong understanding and practical application ofZero Trust principles (e.g., least privilege, cloud security,network segmentation, untrusted devices) to safeguardorganizational assets. Strong background in managing Windows-based servers, includingWindows Server, VMware, and Exchange environments, with a focus onperformance and reliability. Experience with desktop support ticket management and systemsanalysis, ensuring efficient resolution and continuous improvementof support processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for personalproductivity, including advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint,and Outlook. A master’s degree is preferred.
