Job Description
Executive Director – Discovery Playhouse, Southeast Missouri Children’s Museum Discovery Playhouse 502 Broadway Street, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 Discovery Playhouse is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and mission-driven Executive Director to lead our growing children’s museum into its next chapter of innovation and impact. As the public face of Discovery Playhouse, the Executive Director will champion our mission to ignite a love of learning through hands-on play and exploration. This leader will guide our strategic direction, cultivate strong community and donor relationships, and advance our role as a beloved educational resource for families across Southeast Missouri.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy:
Serve as a passionate ambassador and articulate the vision of Discovery Playhouse; implement and evolve the organization’s strategic plan.
Fundraising & Development:
Spearhead fundraising campaigns, including exhibit sponsorships, donor cultivation, grant writing, and signature fundraising events.
Community Engagement:
Strengthen partnerships with community stakeholders, business leaders, and civic organizations to expand our impact and visibility. Qualifications Demonstrated passion for children’s education, enrichment, or community development. Proven experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or community engagement. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Background in grant writing and event planning is a plus. Ability to think strategically, manage budgets, and inspire a dedicated team.
Compensation Salary range:
