Primary Purpose of Position:
The North Carolina Museum of Art is seeking an enthusiastic team member to be part of our wonderful organization! The Manager of Studio Programs works closely with the Director of Outreach and Audience Engagement to engage broad and diverse audiences on site and across NC and places emphasis on partnerships that engage multigenerational audiences. The position invests in partnerships that invite the exploration of the arts plural, opening opportunities for studio classes alongside performing arts, food and beverage arts, and more. The Manager of Studio Programs also partners with artists and vendors locally and throughout NC with the goals of increasing awareness of Museum offerings, supporting a love of cultural arts, developing relationships of reciprocity, and ensuring the Museum works to achieve its mission to serve all North Carolinians and patrons.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Collaborate with the Director of Outreach and Audience Engagement and department annually to research and refine programming to align with the Museum’s strategic plan and outreach and audience engagement data.
Develop relationships with strategic local and state-wide partners, including NC artists and teaching artists, that allow for on-site and off-site programming that support the Museum’s mission to serve all North Carolinians, open doors to a wide range of studio arts programs, and promote the Museum brand.
Establish and execute the annual vision, goals, objectives, and programmatic offerings for the Museum’s studio programs; identify teaching artists and ensure thematic offerings that align with curatorial and exhibition intent; manage all studio programs on and off site.
Support the Director of Outreach and Audience Engagement in the development and execution of Education Gallery exhibitions.
Manage studio programs, including artists’ and vendors’ contracts, materials coordination, event management, and budgets.
Arrange and coordinate transportation, lodging, and hospitality for artists and vendors as relevant. Partner with other Museum departments to develop promotional concepts and promote events, to secure funding, and to analyze program results both quantitative and qualitative.
Position/Physical Requirements:
Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 40 hours, some weekends may be necessary. Ability to work on weekends as needed depending on museum programming.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in art history, Biology, Botany, Conservation, Education, History OR
Zoology from an appropriately accredited institution AND
two years of museum or related work;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
