Position Description:

The Strings Specialist provides vision and direction in Floretta P. Carson Visual and Performing Arts Academy’s Instrumental Music Program in alignment with National Music Standards and FPC’s philosophy and strategic goals. The instructor selects repertoire, teaches, and conducts MS/HS strings students. The Strings Specialist will ensure excellence in student musicianship while maintaining a climate that encourages student engagement, participation, and creativity. The instructor will work collaboratively with the Instrumental Music Director, Woodwind Specialist, Percussion Specialist, and Brass Specialist to ensure program continuity and excellence across all grade levels.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

– Ensemble Leadership Partners with the Instrumental music Director, Woodwind Specialist, Brass Specialist, and Instrumental music Director to choose repertoire. Prepares students for numerous performances throughout the year. Leads sectional rehearsals with emphasis on strings instruction across all grade levels. Participates in weekly cross-divisional Instrumental music meetings inclusive of all Instrumental music faculty. Collaborates with team to integrate the various ensembles for concerts and events.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

– Curriculum Development and Oversight Implements comprehensive instrumental music curriculum in collaboration with the instrumental music director. Creates developmentally appropriate progression of skills from beginning through advanced grade. Develops assessment tools and rubrics for strings student progress. Creates lesson plans and instructional materials that address diverse learning needs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

– Strings Specialist Duties Provides specialized strings instruction across all grade levels. Leads strings sectionals and small group instruction. Mentor students in proper strings technique and maintenance. Collaborates with other instrumental specialists to ensure balanced ensemble development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

– Administration and Organization Assists with management of the instrumental music library. Supports facility and equipment logistics. Assists with concert and event production. Supports registration for Events and Festivals. Maintains inventory of school-owned strings instruments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

– Parent and Community Engagement Serves as a contact for the instrumental music program. Plans and coordinates concerts and performance events in collaboration with the instrumental music director. Maintains regular communication with parents regarding student progress and program updates in collaboration with the instrumental music director.
