The ideal candidate will have a strong background in color guard performance and teaching, with the ability to inspire and develop students’ skills in movement, choreography, and teamwork. This role is essential in fostering a positive learning environment that encourages creativity and discipline among participants. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging color guard routines that align with the overall vision of the marching band or performance group. Conduct regular rehearsals, providing instruction on techniques, choreography, and equipment handling. Assess individual and group performance levels, offering constructive feedback to enhance skills and confidence. Collaborate with other instructors and staff to create cohesive performances that integrate music and visual elements. Organize and lead workshops or clinics to further develop students’ abilities and knowledge of color guard. Maintain a safe rehearsal environment by enforcing safety protocols related to equipment use and physical activity. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding progress, expectations, and any necessary updates. Qualifications Previous experience as a color guard performer or instructor is highly desirable. A degree from a university in a related field such as education, performing arts, or physical education is preferred. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students of varying skill levels. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey instructions and feedback. Ability to work collaboratively with other instructors and staff members in a team-oriented environment.
