Lower School Music Instructor Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church and School 1121 Andalusia Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134 St. Philip’s is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a Lower School Music Instructor. General Responsibilities:
Uphold the mission of St. Philip’s to provide an excellent educational experience in a safe, nurturing community Address the intellectual, spiritual, and physical needs of students as outlined in our mission Create a warm, welcoming classroom environment conducive to learning Identify and respond to individual learning differences and create enrichment opportunities Teach general music classes for PreK3 through 2nd grade Teach violin classes for Kindergarten through 5th grade Differentiate repertoire to meet varied student needs Coordinate rehearsals and recitals Manage the violin rental program Maintain instruments/equipment and keep an inventory Collaborate with the teaching team to plan and enhance Music instruction Establish positive and effective classroom routines and behavior management systems Use a variety of instructional methods to engage students with different learning modalities Monitor student progress and develop support or intervention as needed Communicate regularly and effectively with parents; build strong parent/family partnerships Collaborate with special area teachers to integrate units of study Incorporate technology into the classroom effectively Maintain accurate records of student progress, parent communication, and lessons Perform assigned duties such as lunch, recess, and dismissal with care Participate in team, grade level, and faculty meetings Engage with the St. Philip’s community by attending events like Episcopal School Sunday and the
Annual Gala Requirements and Qualifications:
Deep respect for children Bachelor’s degree in Music Education; Graduate degree preferred Experience teaching elementary students, with a minimum of 1-2 years preferred Private teaching experience in both general music and violin, with 3-5 years preferred Strong knowledge of subject content and learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques Familiarity with curriculum design and strong pedagogical skills Experience developing meaningful instruction and differentiated learning experiences Excellent written and spoken communication skills Strong collaboration skills; ability to work well with a team
