Position Overview:
Somerset Academy Avenir is seeking a passionate and talented Art and/or Music Teacher to join our founding faculty. This is a unique opportunity to shape a vibrant and engaging fine arts program from the ground up. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to arts education. Whether teaching visual arts, general music, or both, this educator will play a key role in fostering creativity and self-expression in our students while contributing to a well-rounded educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver dynamic, standards-aligned art and/or music instruction to elementary students across multiple elementary grade levels. Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages artistic exploration and appreciation for diverse artistic and musical traditions. Organize student performances, exhibitions, or showcases to highlight student work and engage the school community. Integrate technology and cross-curricular connections into lessons to enhance learning and relevance. Maintain classroom materials, instruments, and supplies in an organized and safe manner. Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and community partners to support interdisciplinary learning experiences Participate in ongoing professional development, school-wide initiatives, and team planning. Support the broader school community by offering and participating in extracurricular programs, school-wide events, and performances that enrich student life and promote school spirit. Support and model the mission, vision, and values of Somerset Academy Avenir.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Music Education, or a related field (required). Valid Florida teaching certification in Art (K-12), Music (K-12), or eligibility to obtain certification (required). Experience teaching in an elementary school setting preferred, but not required for exceptional new graduates. Proficiency in visual arts media and/or vocal/instrumental music instruction. Strong classroom management and communication skills. A passion for arts education and fostering creativity in young learners.
