School Principal Position Overview:

Helix Aviation Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled Band Instructor to lead the Middle School and High School band programs. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and motivated educator who can inspire students to develop their musical talents and foster a love for music. This position involves teaching both beginner and advanced instrumental music classes, organizing rehearsals, preparing for concerts and competitions, and contributing to the growth of the school’s music program.

Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Development:

Teach middle school and high school band classes, focusing on both beginner and advanced levels. Develop and implement engaging music curriculum for various skill levels. Plan and lead band rehearsals, sectionals, and individual practice sessions. Instruct students in proper instrumental technique, music theory, and performance skills.

Performance & Events:

Organize and conduct school concerts, recitals, pep rallies, and parades. Prepare students for regional, state, and national music competitions, auditions, and festivals. Coordinate with students and parents regarding concert schedules, performances, and events.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with other music educators to support and integrate the school’s overall arts curriculum. Work closely with school administrators to promote and grow the music program. Assist in recruiting new students to the music program and maintain student retention.

Classroom Management & Student Support:

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment in the classroom. Provide guidance and mentorship to students, helping them achieve personal and academic growth. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress and behavior.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance. Manage inventory of band instruments and equipment. Submit reports on student progress to administration, and participate in parent-teacher conferences.

Professional Development:

Stay current on educational trends in music, including teaching methods, new technology, and music literature. Attend professional development opportunities and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (required). Previous experience teaching band at the middle or high school level is preferred. Strong proficiency in conducting and instrumental music performance, especially with brass, woodwinds, and percussion instruments.

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to teach a wide range of musical genres and adapt to varying student needs. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a respectful and supportive learning environment.

Personal Characteristics:

Passionate about music education and fostering student creativity. Collaborative and willing to work closely with colleagues, parents, and students. Enthusiastic about participating in extracurricular activities and school events.

Preferred Qualifications:
