Piano Instructor (Fall 2025)
Description:
The New School of Music (NSM) in Cambridge seeks a creative, flexible, experienced, and engaging part-time piano instructor to teach private lessons to children and adults of all ages (5+). Many of our piano students are between the ages of 6-16. Lessons occur after-school and on weekends during our core academic calendar—September 2025 through June 2026—with the possibility of some summer teaching and contract renewal in future years. We anticipate this position beginning with 1-2 days a week of teaching, with opportunities to grow the studio. All lessons occur at the New School of Music, located just outside of Harvard Square. NSM is an inclusivemunity music school for children and adults. We wee all levels, from first time beginners to students with decades of experience. Our faculty adapt to students’ diverse learning styles and support students’ goals.
Compensation:
$49-51 per hour Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have: a genuine passion for teaching and sharing music with young people demonstrated experience working with children dedication to inclusivity in all school-related interactions andmunications shown ability to be creative in the lesson to actively engage students developmentally age-appropriate curriculums Bachelor’s or Master’s in performance, music education, music pedagogy, or equivalent work experience
