Director of Bands/ Instructor-Academics 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars #1 Hill St, Goodman, MS 39079 Position Information Posting Number 2010622 Position Title Director of Bands/ Instructor-Academics General Statement of Function The general duties of this position will be coordination and direction of all instrumental programs and instrumental performing groups (including but not limited to Bulldog Band, Concert Band, Pep Band and Jazz Ensemble) as well as responsibility for recruiting students and developing relationships with area high school directors. Additional responsibilities will include teaching music courses ranging from non-major courses to major courses during the regular fall/spring semesters which may require day and evening sessions. There may be opportunities to teach during the summer and/or online. This role could also include advising students in certain Programs of Study.

Coordinator of Academic Programs, Goodman Campus Job Description 1. Serve as Director of Bands and Coordinator of the instrumental music program. 2. Coordinate and schedule all instrumental performing groups as needed for specific functions and performances. 3. Coordinate the inventories of all band equipment, music and uniforms and the maintenance and care of band facilities. 4. Recruit and retain students to instrumental music program. 5. Coordinate with Financial Aid Department the awarding of instrumental scholarships. 6. Prepare course materials, organize classes, keep student records, maintain classrooms and equipment, and perform other duties related to the instructional process. 7. Attend faculty meetings and technology training sessions. 8. Cooperate in the development of curriculum, preparation of syllabi, and the selection of textbooks and materials. 9. Participate in curriculum development, program review, and creating student learning outcomes. 10. Employ available instructional technology to meet diverse student needs. 11. Serve as an academic advisor to students who have indicated a Program of Study in the faculty member’s assigned area. 12. Perform all related and implied duties as may be directed Qualifications 1. Master’s degree in Music or master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in music courses is preferred. Experience or course work using multimedia presentations is preferred. Consideration will be given to equivalent education, related work experience, demonstrated competencies in the discipline and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes. OR A bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education with 3 to 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. 2. Applicants with community college teaching and Canvas experience preferred. 3. Applicants must possess an understanding and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy. 4. Applicants must have excellent references from previous employers and/or professors.
