Job Goal:
To organized, teach, lead, and direct an instrumental music program at the middle and/or high school level which provides for the development of individual musicians and various performing groups representing the school to a high level of excellence.
Performance Responsibilities:
Schedules and conducts high school band rehearsals.
Teaching of junior and senior high students using the MS frameworks.
Plans and implements instructional program for junior high students.
Teaches individual and group sessions to high school students as appropriate.
Writes and executes marching band shows.
Maintains an instrumental music library.
Determines band needs and prepares a budget, requisitions, equipment, materials, transportation, and supplies.
Works closely in a leadership role with band parent’s organization (or Booster Club) in the promotion of the band program consistent with school policy.
Prepares and organizes for state competition and band recital activities.
Organizes, conducts, and rehearses orchestra for the spring musical.
Promotes good public relations within the school and community.
Participates in district and state professional activities and associations.
Maintains, issues, and inventories musical instruments, uniforms, and equipment.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.
Terms of Employment:
197 days a year. Salary to be established by the Board.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
