Music Teacher Position Purpose The ConVal K-12 Music Vision Statement is “to develop informed and inquiring minds that enable each student to engage in creating, performing, responding, connecting, and diversifying their skills and their understanding of the world around them through music education.” Essential Functions
Develops and administers school music curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for art instruction.
Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.
Evaluates each pupil’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepares progress reports.
Plans and presents art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit pupils’ work for the school and the community. May sponsor exhibits from outside.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school’s standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other school professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Teach students in grades K•4 about music through exploring beat, rhythm, instruments, form, melody, music appreciation and performance etiquette following the developed K-4 Curriculum Map which aligns with the National Core Arts Standards.
Participation in Intentional Learning Community with K-12 Team as well as the K-4 Elementary Team. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Other responsibilities may include but are not limited, preparing students for an informal Winter Break schoolwide musical performance, facilitating a Spring Arts Festival in collaboration with colleagues and a presence at Children and The Arts Festival in May of each year.

Knowledge of art curriculum and concepts.

Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Work in standard office and school building environments. Qualifications Profile To include but not limited to, singing, dancing, instrument playing•percussion, djembe drumming, recorders (grade 3) and ukuleles (grade 4)•basic music notation,music listening and schoolwide performances.
Certification/License:
NH State Certification as an Art and Music teacher as required for position.
Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level and/or subject is a plus.
