Job Description

SYMS Faculty (Hourly) 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars Durham, NH USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub app Internal Candidates Exist Teach courses at UNH’s Summer Youth Music School (SYMS) as assigned by the SYMS Director. SYMS is the UNH Music Department’s primary recruiting event, oriented toward middle-school and high-school students. Applicants for teaching positions should be experienced music educators comfortable working with these age groups. All teaching faculty will be required to assist the SYMS Director in always ensuring the safety of campers, including taking attendance immediately at the beginning of each class session and responding to emails and urgent messages. All successful applicants will be required to undergo a background check and training in the protection of minors. Duties/Responsibilities Preparation for camp (15%) Selecting teaching materials and planning for coursework as assigned. Instruction (75%) Instruct each class as assigned, arriving on time for class and immediately submitting camper attendance to the online system. Administrative tasks (10%) Respond in a timely manner to all emails and messages from camp leadership, both prior to camp and during. Complete the necessary background check and protection of minors training immediately upon receipt.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience :

Undergraduate degree in music or music education. Experience teaching middle-school and high-school music students.

Demonstrated ability to work sympathetically with adolescents, providing both musical instruction and personal/behavioral guidance.
