Mount Saint Charles Academy is renowned for the quality of its band programs at the middle and high school levels, as well as symphonic wind ensemble, jazz band and string ensemble. It also offers hand bell and steel drum instruction. Mount seeks an inspiring music director/teacher for students in grades 6-12 helping students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences including concerts, festivals, competitions, and public performances. Music Teacher Utilizes repertoire of all types of music, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students. Provides opportunities for music ensembles and music ministry Plans, rehearses, and directs students and organizes and produces at least three musical programs for school and community Plans a balanced music program, and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time. Develops and refines music curriculum based on appropriate standards of creating, performing, and responding. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and music performances. Evaluates each student’s musical growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute. Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Prepares a program which accommodates the musical needs of beginner and advanced instrumental/vocal students, grades six through twelve. Provides individual and small group instruction in order to meet the needs of music students. Music Director Cooperation with administration in providing musical programs for special school events or school masses. Manages inventory and maintenance of all music, uniforms and materials owned by the Music Department. Orders music, instruments, equipment and additional materials Administers the department budget in conjunction with the Principal At the beginning of the school year, informs all students and parents of dates for concerts, parades and activities for the upcoming school year. Is responsible for proper supervision of students at concerts or other music related assemblies. Is responsible for organizing and preparing students for the following state-run activities such as All State, Solo & Ensemble, or other festivals/parades. Is responsible for requesting all transportation for the Music Department through the transportation coordinator Researches possible teachers, performers, conductors or composers to be guests or part of annual concerts in order to enhance the educational experience for students.
