A strong desire to teach band classes for grades 5-7, including beginners, paired with development of structures and processes for successful implementation of elective practice band courses
Ability to effectively communicate and contribute to a team, represent MRIS on the district Band Committee and Music Department through collaboration with colleagues and appropriate others
Organizational strengths to develop and implement performance schedules
A track record of success as evidenced by performance scores, positive student perceptions and relationships, positive communications and relationships with parents and community
Strong recommendations of colleagues and supervisors
Understanding the pedagogy and central concepts of Music K-12 and Band.
Ability to create and use formative, observational, and formal data from performance assessments to drive instructional decisions through action-based analysis and reflection, which impacts increased student learning
Confidence in utilizing technology to facilitate instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with all stakeholders
Ability to cognitively engage the learner and facilitate the age- appropriate instructional process, higher order thinking, problem solving, and real-world connections for students
Evidence of engaging in high-quality professional development as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education
Ability to perform any physical duties associated with this position
