Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Full-time clergy position, with 4 weeks and 5 Sundays paid vacation, 2 weeks and 1 Sunday continuing education, plus allowance
- The associate rector for congregational care reports to the rector
Particular areas of oversight include:
Pastoral Care:
Serve as the lead clergy contact for parish pastoral care, including directing Calvary’s robust lay pastoral care ministry, making regular home and hospital visits, and referring parishioners to other professionals in areas such as spiritual direction and psychotherapy, as required;
Christian Witness/Racial Justice:
Provide leadership alongside the rector in Calvary’s ongoing work in racial justice and reconciliation;
Teaching:
In coordination with the associate rector for formation, participate in the teaching ministry at Calvary on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings as needed;
Lenten Preaching Series:
Participate in visioning, planning, and selection of preachers with the LPS coordinator and committee for this 102-year-old program;
Other Possible Areas of Attention:
Parish Fellowship, Young Adult Ministry. With the other clergy, the associate shares in the responsibilities of preaching and administering the sacraments as assigned by the rector. The associate shares responsibility for the preparation and officiating of extraordinary liturgies, including marriages and burials, as assigned by the rector. The associate may participate in the after-hours, on-call pastoral care rotation as assigned.
