QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution. Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area. Must meet the No Child Left Behind Act regulations/requirements. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, for the purpose of maximizing student achievement. Ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of the students at the designated grade level(s) and in the designated content area(s)/subject(s). Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations. Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Utilize computer-based programs that are used in the school system. 2. Manage large groups of students. 3. Create or select long-range plans based on a review of system and state curriculum priorities, student profiles and instructional priorities. 4. Define goals and objectives for unit and daily plans. 5. Sequence content and activities appropriately. 6. Identify specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable. 7. Revise plans based on student needs. 8. Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual student’s culture, learning styles, special needs, socio-economic background and physical condition. 9. Develop or select instructional activities which foster active involvement of students in the learning process. 10. Plan and prepare lessons and instructional strategies which support the school improvement plan and the system mission. 11. Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources which support learningobjectives and address students’ varying learning styles, backgrounds, special needs and physical condition. 12. Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process. 13. Maintain a clean, safe and organized learning environment. 14. Maintain academic focus by using a variety of motivational techniques. 15. Establish and use behavior management techniques which are appropriate and effective 16. Establish routines and procedures and work with students on consistently following them. 17.
